THE HANDS BEHIND THE SOUND

A lifetimedevoted togiving voice.

From Guanare, in the Venezuelan state of Portuguesa, master craftsman Arami LUTHIER has devoted several decades to handcrafting instruments such as the cuatro and the mandolin.

His craft brings together patient hands and an ear for the voice of wood. Through grain, strings and careful details, each instrument takes shape to accompany new stories and keep the music of our homeland alive.

02 / THE CRAFT

Before it was
music,
it was wood.

We craft Venezuelan cuatros. Instruments where material, shape and sound come together.

Every grain tells its own story. Every detail invites a closer look.

ONE INSTRUMENT. MANY GENERATIONS.

Small in size.
Rich in history.

I

A journey of strings.

The history of the Venezuelan cuatro is linked to small Spanish guitars. In Venezuela, the instrument gradually developed an identity and a voice of its own.

II

A living memory.

Learning to play the cuatro is a way into Venezuela’s musical diversity: a tradition shared, taught and reimagined by each generation.

III

The story continues.

At ARAMI, the relationship between wood and music takes shape in every instrument. The next chapter begins in the hands of the person who plays it.
